UGC ad hook library

Pick your industry and an angle. Get opening lines for your next UGC ads, each with what to show on screen in the first seconds, ready to hand to creators.

This tool is in labs: it works, and we are still testing it. What it makes is yours to keep.

Fills in wherever a hook says [product].

How it works

The hook is the first second or two of a video ad: the line and the picture that decide whether someone keeps watching. In UGC ads, a hook works when it sounds like a person talking, not a brand announcing.

This library has eight hooks for each of fourteen industries, one per angle: problem and fix, curiosity, POV, before and after, myth busting, honest review, a question and a confession. Each comes with a note on what to show on screen while it is said. Add your product's name and the hooks fill it in; pick a single angle and you also see how that angle is written for the other industries.

Which data it uses

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Fluencify; we only count that the tool was used.

The hooks are written by Fluencify, not generated. They leave out results promises and health, money or legal claims on purpose; anything you add in their place has to be something you can back up.

Step by step

  1. Pick your industry, and an angle if you want only one kind.
  2. Add your product's name to fill it into the hooks.
  3. Press Show me hooks, and copy the ones that fit your brand's voice.
  4. Give creators several hooks for the same video, and keep the ones that hold viewers longest in your ad reports.

What comes out

  • I never knew where my money went each month. Now I can see it. Problem and fix. Show: your phone, the month's view, numbers blurred.
  • The app I open before I buy anything big. Curiosity. Show: your thumb on the app icon in a shop.
  • I used Pocketwise for [how long]. What I like, and what I do not. Honest review. Show: your face, then the feature.

Questions

What makes a good UGC ad hook?

It is short, specific and sounds like a person. It names a problem the viewer has, or makes them curious, in the first second or two, and the rest of the video delivers on it.

How many hooks should I test?

Several on the same video body, so the hook is the only thing that changes between versions. Keep the ones that hold viewers longest in your ad reports, and write the next ones in their style.

Can I use these hooks in paid ads?

Yes. They avoid promises and claims on purpose. If you add a claim, make sure you can back it up and that it meets the ad rules where you run it.

Why does every hook say what to show?

Because the picture is half the hook. A strong line over a weak first frame loses viewers before the line is finished.

How do I get these hooks filmed?

Hand them to creators with your brief. Sign up free to post a Fluencify campaign and have creators film your hooks.
