Whitelisting fee calculator

When a brand runs ads through your account, you can charge for it. Enter your own numbers and compare three ways of charging: a share of your fee each month, a share of the ad spend, or a flat monthly fee.

This tool is in labs: it works, and we are still testing it. What it makes is yours to keep.

What you charge for making the video, before any ads.

Only for a share of the ad spend: what the brand told you it will spend.

Fluencify has no data on whitelisting fees, so every number here is yours to set: the form starts empty on purpose. This is arithmetic, not legal advice.

How it works

Whitelisting is when a brand runs ads through a creator's own account, so the ad shows the creator's name and profile instead of the brand's. TikTok calls these Spark Ads, and Instagram and Facebook call them partnership ads. The creator gives the permission inside the app, for a set time, and no password changes hands.

Because the ads carry your name and reach people far beyond your followers, whitelisting is usually priced on its own, on top of the video. Creators charge for it in a few ways: a share of their video fee for each month, a share of what the brand spends on the ads, or a flat fee per month. This calculator prices each way you fill in, side by side, over the months the brand wants.

Which data it uses

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Fluencify; we only count that the tool was used.

Fluencify publishes no data on whitelisting fees, and we found no public source that sets a standard one we could cite. So the calculator suggests no number: each one is yours, and every formula is shown next to its answer.

The only Fluencify figure in the result is context: what campaigns paid creators per 1,000 views, with its sample size and month. It is for a video's views, not for ads through your account, and never enters the calculation.

What the page says about Spark Ads comes from TikTok's own help page, linked under Sources.

The published ranges

Fluencify publishes what brands paid creators per 1,000 views once a month, as ranges with the sample size and the month beside every number, and only when at least 7 brands and 20 creators are behind a range. The first month is on its way.

Until it is published, this tool shows no range and says so, rather than a number from anywhere else. How the ranges are made is on the UGC rates page.

Step by step

  1. Enter your fee for the video and how many months the brand wants to run ads through your account.
  2. Fill in one or more ways of charging: a percentage of your fee each month, a share of the brand's monthly ad spend, or a flat fee each month.
  3. Press Price the whitelisting. Each way is worked out over the same months, with and without your video fee.
  4. Agree the end date in writing, and set the platform's permission to end on the same day.

Example

Two ways of charging, with made-up numbers (not suggested rates)

What goes in

Your fee for the video
100 in your currency (made up, to keep the arithmetic simple)
How long
2 months
A % of your fee each month
20% (made up to show the arithmetic: Fluencify suggests no percentage)
A flat fee each month
30 (made up)

What comes out

  • A % of your video fee each month: 100 x 20% = 20 a month, x 2 months = 40. With the 100 video fee: 140.
  • A flat fee each month: 30 a month, x 2 months = 60. With the 100 video fee: 160.

Questions

What is whitelisting in influencer marketing?

A brand running ads through a creator's own account, so the ads appear as the creator's posts. The creator grants the permission inside the platform's app, for a set time, and can end it when the agreement ends.

What are Spark Ads?

TikTok's name for ads that run from an existing TikTok post, including a creator's. The creator authorizes the brand with a code, and TikTok's help page says the length of that authorization can be set to suit the campaign, so it can end when your paid term does.

How much should I charge for whitelisting?

There is no standard rate we can point to, and Fluencify has no data on it, so the calculator does not suggest one. Decide how you want to charge, enter your own numbers, and compare what each way adds up to over the months the brand wants.

Should I charge a share of the ad spend?

It ties your fee to how hard the brand pushes the ads, which can suit long or large campaigns. It only works if the brand tells you what it spends, so agree how and how often it reports that.

What should a whitelisting agreement say?

Which videos the brand may run, whether it may edit them or the caption, who approves changes, how long the permission lasts, what you are paid and when, and what happens when it ends. The usage license template has a clause for ads through the creator's account.
